Home to the sun all year round… surely that’s enough to get you to jump on a plane and head over asap?! What’s more is, that apart from the already established great eating spots – there are new places opening left right and centre.
While we were in town we had dinner at Mr. Chow – (order the duck. Its epic). Brunch at Soho Beach House where we had a great table for people watching and Saturday dinner was at the new ‘in spot’; SWAN. Kanye West had dinner there the night before we did so the barre was set high and we’d heard that the interiors were ‘pretty n pink’ – sold! The décor was indeed right up our street, and so were the cocktails… (pink also and deliciously strong) The Hamachi tasted like an explosion of fresh, crisp flavours going off in your mouth and the huge piece of NY steak that the boys ordered melted like butter. The sides were insane too, have you ever seen corn topped with popcorn?! Also, the Ceaser salad genuinely looking like a piece of art and tasted like a masterpiece… we will be going back.
The rooftop at the 1 hotel is a classic ‘be to be seen’ favourite and the tacos are actually pretty good, but what’s better is the healthy café on the ground floor where you can get smoothies, ready-made salads, and Acai bowls. Be prepared to pay up though, we bought a packet of crisps to break a 20$ bill and ended up less than 10 bucks back… the super cute boutique ‘Good things+ plant the future’ where we found crystal-infused water bottles is also located on the ground floor with a display of what the hotel is doing to help the oceans. Yep, we like.
Just down the street, we came across ‘Everything but water’ the resort wear boutique with some of our favourite beach brands which we can’t find so easily in London. Kaching!
For after-dinner dancing, we would recommend la Victoria. You’ll really feel like you’re in Miami because it’s open air, they play reggaeton and everyone speaks Spanish. Also, there’s a food truck outside and your night is not complete without an order of ‘tequeños’ which are gooey, cheese-filled pastries to soak up some of tomorrow mornings hangover. Oh, and perfect for your beach bod.
In terms of activities, the boardwalk along South Beach is a must, and if you're feeling flush then a jet ski tour of the bay is also something we'd recommend. If you're a Padel player there are courts around town to rent for a few hours too, and our class pass app got us into some pretty great yoga studios
